How Can We Help?

Maths & English Tutoring, Testing and Homework Help,

At Educational Backup Services we specialise in helping parents to ensure that their children gain the most from their education. One of the biggest problems for parents is to know in which areas their children have difficulty. Our service allows parents to check-up on their progress and to be able to see exactly where their children are having difficulty.

We specialise in maths and English, as these are the key building blocks on which most of education is built. Without a sound basis in these two core subjects school can become very difficult for children, reducing their chances in later life. We are also currently developing science as a new product which we will be launching in 2011.

We are licensed by the Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA), the non-departmental public body which maintains and develops the National Curriculum and associated assessments, tests and examinations to use its questions in our Diploma Examinations and Check-ups, to give out-of-school support in maths, English and science learning. Our targeted tutoring is already helping over 40,000 children across the UK.

What's the problem?

Often a child simply gives up when he or she is having difficulty with a specific area of study and is unable to work out the problem for themselves. At this stage they come to mum and dad, but often parents are unable to help as subjects are taught quite differently nowadays to when they were at school.

In a recent Onepoll study for the government, the homework challenges that leave parents frustrated and children confused were clear. The findings reveal that:

  • 83% of parents struggle to support their children with homework
  • Over half of children are confused by their parents when they try to help with school work
  • 81% of parents would welcome guidance on how to support their children’s learning better

But for many children when they say "I can't do maths" or "I can't do English", what they really mean is "I didn't understand the last thing I learned, so I am having difficulty with this next piece of work".

At Educational Backup Services we have just one goal
Moving your children's sense of ability from "I Can't" to "I Can".

What Do We Do To Help?

Educational Backup Services provide a Freephone TeacherLine daily helpline with unlimited access to our teachers for our students and their parents or carers, where they can ring through with any maths and English schoolwork or homework problems.  Our tutors are exclusively UK Qualified Teachers who are UK based and have experience of teaching children in UK schools.

The reason we’re so popular with children is that:

  • they get help from us exactly when they need it, not just once a week; and
  • we don’t ask them to use their time working on topics they have already mastered, only the ones they haven’t

Your children’s success will come from the fact that we target precisely the area of help they need, using the exact QCDA questions that are in their SATS and GCSE’s. We identify problems that they have and fix them.

Through this they will access their checkups, Diplomas and our unique web-based interactive whiteboard system, SilverBoard, which allows our teachers to teach them in a totally private and secure one-to-one tutorial space.

Keeping Children Motivated

One of the hardest things to do as a parent is to keep our children motivated. Educational Backup Services provides regular checkups at the end of every school term and allows your child to apply for Diplomas. They are rewarded for their successes, which, in turn helps to build confidence and keep them motivated.  We also have a range of other tips for helping parents keep children motivated including homework, revision and other areas of work.
